In accordance with results of the UAW Referendum held in the fall of 2021 (the “2021 Referendum”), the 2022 UAW International Officer Election (the “2022 Election”) was conducted by secret mail-in ballot in the fall of 2022 and overseen by the UAW Monitor. The vote count for the 2022 Election concluded on December 2, 2022. For more information regarding the 2021 Referendum and the 2022 Election, including the unofficial 2022 Election results, please visit the UAW Monitor’s website (www.uawmonitor.com/elections or www.uawmonitor.com/ballots).
Based on the unofficial 2022 Election results, a run-off election is being conducted for the following offices: one (1) International President, one (1) International Vice President, and one (1) Region 9 Director (the “2023 Run-Off Election”). The mailing of ballots for the 2023 Run-Off Election began on January 12, 2023, the deadline for the return of those ballots was February 28, 2023, and the vote count commenced on March 1, 2023.
The Vote Count for the 2023 Run-Off Election began on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 in a secure facility outside of Dayton, Ohio. On March 4, 2023, the Election Vendor completed the tabulation of all eligible, non-challenged ballots received by the February 28, 2023 deadline.
Below please find links to the tally sheets produced by the vote counting machines, during the Vote Count week. Note: the numbers on the tally sheets included below do not reflect unresolved challenged ballots.

Please note that the Ballot Cast Total reflects the number of ballots scanned by the vote count machines. The number of votes cast for each candidate may not reflect the same total number of ballots in the Ballot Cast Total column for each Local Union because not every ballot included a countable vote in each race.
As detailed on the Monitor’s website here, the outcome of the race for International President has not been determined because the number of unresolved challenged ballots is greater than the margin between the candidates. If a ballot is challenged, that means the eligibility status of the voter has not yet been determined. Because the number of unresolved challenged ballots is greater than the margin between the candidates for International President, the outcome of this race cannot be determined until a sufficient number of these challenged ballots are resolved.
The Monitor, UAW, and Election Vendor are continuing to gather information to resolve questions as to the eligibility status of the individuals who voted the challenged ballots, and will do so until a sufficient number of challenged ballots have been resolved. The Monitor expects that it will reconvene the vote count again, and will update this page with more information when available.
Once the Vote Count has concluded, the Monitor will post the full, unofficial results for the Run-Off Election here. For more information regarding the Run-Off Election, please visit the Monitor’s website here.
The number of 2023 UAW International Officer Run-Off Election business reply envelopes received and scanned by Merriman River Group (MRG), the UAW’s Election Vendor, sorted by Region, through February 28, 2023 is included below. As detailed further below, this data does not reflect the number of ballots eligible to be counted.
MRG will examine and count each ballot package received individually before determining individual voter eligibility and beginning the vote count. Eligibility testing will commence on February 21, 2023, and the vote count will commence on March 1, 2023. The number of votes tallied may be different from the number of business reply envelopes received and scanned by MRG.
All UAW members in good standing as of January 31, 2023, are eligible to vote in the 2023 Run-Off Election, including members who are part-time workers, reinstated members, and retired members.
